For more than a decade, PETRONAS has been reaching out to Malaysians with its unique approach to communicating festive public messages via thought-provoking television commercials (TVCs), reminding the audience of the need to cherish and uphold common values in a rapidly changing society.

PETRONAS' debut TVC in 1995 for the National Day celebration and subsequent offerings have never failed to capture the imagination of Malaysians from all walks of life, earnestly seeking to connect the nation's rich cultural heritage and diversity with heart-warming messages that cross age, creed and ethnic barriers. Although they are produced mainly for domestic audiences, the TVCs contain universal messages that also cut across national boundaries.

Today, the TVCs conceptualised by PETRONAS are arguably Malaysia's most anticipated, watched and discussed commercials during the festive seasons.

For the 2010 Hari Raya Aidil Fitri celebration, PETRONAS highlights the significance of the Malay concept of "Bertolak Ansur", of finding the middle ground to bridge differences and celebrate shared experiences, of the importance of tolerance and understanding.

Titled "Antara Dua Kampung", the 90-second TVC features a married couple in conflict over where to celebrate Aidil Fitri, with a humourous but poignant ending that drives home the message that it doesn't really matter where the festival is celebrated as long as families remain together in a spirit of caring, sharing and mutual understanding.

The story and setting are reminiscent of a typical classic Malay movie. Inspired by the legendary late P. Ramlee's iconic films, PETRONAS has gone to great lengths to remain faithful to the style of the screen gems of the 1950s and 1960s when people in the movie industry, regardless of race or beliefs, came together to produce some of the most memorable moments on celluloid that continue to entertain and engage audiences today.
